Based on international climate policies, as well as on the natural resources and long history of power generation in the municipality of Samnanger, the Centre of Expertise – Community Power Generation has Water and Power as foundation stones. The CoE is an internationally focused effort towards local and regional sustainable growth.

The CoE is to be a contact and information point for all who focus on small-scale climate solutions. A special focus will be placed on future projects nationally and abroad.

Educators on powerful safari

The local teachers and educators in Samnanger were all invited on a powerful safari in the Samnanger watercourse on Monday, November 9th. Guided by staff from the power company BKK, as well as one of the local private enthusiasts, the educators were able to get a glance of the dynamics of hydro power. Using the local resources and climate initiatives concretely in ongoing teaching schemes is part of the CoE’s overall agenda – “Lifelong learning”.

Sparebanken Vest, a regional bank and one of the financial market leaders in Western Norway, has decided to support the CoE Community Power Generation, with the amount of NOK 250.000. The funds are to be allocated in 2009.

Sparebanken Vest’s vision is be the driving force behind creation of growth and prosperity in Western Norway and finds the CoE’s overall purpose as a constructive contributor to this vision.
